FROM A MESS TO THE MASSES

I stumbled on a pretty dandy review the other day from when i played with Themselves & Our Brother The Native in Lyon last month. Thank you to Quentin for the kind words and thank you to Harleigh for making those kind words make sense.

"Arriving late, I came across a crazy visionary who invaded the stage at the Rail Théatre all alone. House of John Player has an unlikely folk sound (similar to that of Magic Arm who were seen last week at GZ) which is based largely around the looper which he uses and abuses. However, House of John Player goes further than this, by using various machines to flesh out the bones of his song, which are strangely tribal, enchanting and rich. The result is a pretty firework display of sounds and noises which will delight the audience; a good start to the night, if slightly short. House of John Player is another gem discovered by GZ, and worth seeing if he’s in the area (which will be without doubt sometime in the distant future, as dates don’t seem to come regularly)."
